I have a site hosted on a Slicehost VPS (diablocomics.com). The domain is registered with GoDaddy. I'd like to use Slicehost's DNS servers...
ns1.slicehost.net
ns2.slicehost.net
ns3.slicehost.net
I'm pretty sure I have the config on the Slicehost side OK, but I'm less confident of the GoDaddy side.
This was my attempt...
Although I entered "diablocomics.com" the resulting record is "@".
Move From Dreamhost to Linode or Slicehost or Rackspace or Amazon or ... ?
I am now hosting at Dreamhost VPS and everything is always down, can you tell me if things would be better with a cloud at Linode, Rackspace or any other ? What is the cheapest and best service for you ? Also I would like a server that is managed, as I am not an expert...
Thank you so much for your help.
I'm looking for a list of "Do this, do that" points in securing a new Ubuntu 12.10 server that is well-maintained and recent.
I'm creating a new Ubuntu 12.10 server instance on EC2 to replace my older Slicehost installation I created a few years ago. I spent a lot of time back then locking down the server as much as possible after doing a lot of research.

First off at the very, very minimum one needs to slice up their drives with -/boot//var/log/homeAlso I would recommend an additional slice for /tmp also, but that depends on how much drive space you have, 2-4 Gig is usually fineReason for the extra slices is boot really does need to be secure and root needs to be isolated from home and log. For those who just put everything on one slic

Hello Guys,
I need a little help here. I have been studying crash dump and per what I am reading, you can dedicate a slice to use as a dump device. Now when you dedicate this slice, do you have to :
1) create a mount point?
2) add entry in /etc/vfstab?
3) is this slice wu or wm?
4) should it mount at boot?
5) should it be fsck?
I really appreciate your help guys.
Thanks lots
