Since upgrading to Ubuntu 12.10 I'm suffering severe rendering issues in unity:
Some parts of any application (for instance Firefox, or emacs, etc) are blank, or are not rendered, or are blinking.
Some fonts in an application are not correct rendered, maybe only some part (see Eclipse screenshot).
There is some shadows in desktop background.

I recently updated my PC, included in said upgrade was a Gigabyte Nvidia GTX 560 Ti video card, unfortunately I now find myself unable to turn on even basic level desktop effects let alone start compiz.
When I first booted after upgrading I found myself at CLI and unable to startx due to problems with the nvidia drivers, I ended up downloading and installing the driver from nvidia's

Hi, I'm having some trouble running the Extra or Normal Settings in the Appearance/Visual effects setting on ubuntu 8.10 kernel 2.6.31-12. with an Intel GMA X4500HD. I get an error message that says "Desktop Effects could not be enabled."
I'm trying to get compiz to run and avant dock does not seem to respond either without the Visual effects enabled.
