Hello...
I have Ubuntu 10.04 (32 bits) and a wireless usb adaptor Alfa Network AWUS036H with Chipset Realtek 8187L.
After a few minutes connected, the adaptor disconnects and I can't reconnect again.
I search this forum but I'm not sure about what to do.
Do I need to get and install another driver?
I have done several hours of searching and I am still looking for a few USB wifi adaptors that run in 12.04 with no additional driver installations or other fiddling. I am looking to plug in the adaptor and have the laptop recognize and start connecting.
Hey everyone,
I'm using Backtrack 5, R3 and an Alfa AWUS036NHR adaptor. It seems to work fine, and I can put it to monitor mode and I've succesfully used (e.g.) Reaver a few times. However, I can't seem to connect to (encrypted) wireless networks, at least using Wicd.
Attached USB adaptor, ran ndiswrapper and installed the OEM driver from the disk. Instantly attached to my WIFI network. Running Ubuntu 9.10 Gave it a 4 only because it requires ndiswrapper to work.
I have an issue with wifi in ubuntu 10.10:
Wifi works fine for a while (anything from 1 minute to a day), until it locks up and disconnects.
I have had this problem on 2 separate systems - one with a built-in realtek wifi which I have cured by using ndiswrapper.
Hi all
I've downloaded BackTrack 5 R3 the other day and had been trying all day long to make my Alfa AWUS036NH (RT3070 chipset) to work, or at least to be detected.
It runs out-of-the-box in BackTrack 5 R2, with different compat-wireless driver revisions. In BT5 R3, no matter what, I could not make it work.
I upgraded my internet service to a WIFI card. I installed a Rosewill Wireless Adaptor on my dual boot system to communicate with the WIFI card. The Rosewill works with the Vista system, but does not work with my Ubuntu 10.04. I suspected I needed to install a different driver, and I downloaded a Linux driver. Where and how do I install it? And what are the commands I need to use?
Now, I use Debian 6.0.6 instead of Fedora 16/17. But I still sustain the problem of my wireless problem. If I enable/disable my laptop wireless device or my usb wifi adaptor, my laptop will panic. It seems like all the processes stop at that time and I have to restart my laptop directly.
P.S.
I am having trouble using the adaptor to watch Netflix via my EVO 3D. I connect the HDMI to the tv, selct HDMI input on the tv, then connect to the adaptor then to the phone. When I begin the movie I never seem to get the option in notifications to select HDMI. It worked once but I had tried so many sequences I can't recall the exact order.
