A bit of a GTK+/Qt desktop consistency issue:
Is it possible to make GTK+ apps open files on a single click?
In Qt, item views have two separate concepts of "clicked" and "activated" (== double click by default).
1) Using File Manager, open a new window.2) Go to Edit > Preferences.3) Click on "Behavior" tab (3rd from the left).4) Select "Double click to activate items" radio.
No single click of mouse to open files. Used to be a nautilus preference under behavior to select mouse "single click". Installed "gconf-editor" and single click for mouse has check mark in box but no-worky.
I am using Ubuntu 11.10, and really satisfied with the Unity.
But there is one thing annoying me. If I click the Home Folder button on dash, and for example I want to copy some files from one folder to another.
Nautilus will no longer launch:
pst007x@pst007x-Serval-Professional:~$ nautilus
(nautilus:15352): Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_x11_display_get_xdisplay: assertion `GDK_IS_DISPLAY (display)' failed
Segmentation fault

Ubuntu 12.10
Desktop is still there, and I can launch from a saved a folder on the desktop, but cannot launch from applications or the unity bar..
In Ubuntu, Linux Mint and any other distro that uses Nautilus as the file manager, when you double-click on an executable script, a popup window like this will appear to ask you to confirm your action:
If you think this feature is a waste of time like I do, here is how to disable it:
Open Nautilus (or Caja in MATE), on the menu bar, click on Edit then Preferences to open the File Manager Pref
This simple tutorial will show you how to add your applications or custom items to the System Settins window in Ubuntu.
I've enabled single click policy for opening items in Nautilus windows, but Desktop icons need double click. This did not happen with 12.04.
Now I'm running 12.10 and Gnome 3.6.
In previous Ubuntu nautilus supports drag and drop folder adding a bookmark to left sidebar. But Ubuntu 12.04 Precise doesn’t support this drag and drop adding nautilus sidebar shortcuts. This brief tutorial will show you how to add bookmarks/folders to nautilus sidebar in Ubuntu 12.04.
1. Launch nautilus and open a folder, then press Ctrl+D or navigate to Bookmarks -> Add Bookmarks menu.
