http://www.linuxforums.org – I'm trying to do the following using Suse Linux Enterprise Server 10: 1. Create a script that backs up directories of my choosing using tar and cron with a timed stamped filename and moved to an external drive. 2. Create a mysql dump using the same script or different one to do the same as above run cron, timestamp, and moved to usb drive. I have tried the following for the mysqldump NOWDATE='date+%d%m%y' mysqldump -uroot -pPassword#3 drupal612 | gzip > bkupdate-$NOWDATE.gzip Fails every time. I'm naming the file where this scrip is as mysmpbackup.sh and using cron to invoke it. Help!!!!!!!! (HowTos)
