I have a HP deskjet 3050 which is a printer/scanner. The printer was added to my network using a WPS pin through my router. The printer works fine, it is detected on my network and prints in Ubuntu12.04. However when I try to scan with Simple Scan (for example) I get a message "No scanner detected".
I have just bought a shiny new Canon MG6250 multifunction printer/scanner and connected it via LAN. Installing the printing side of things was a breeze, however, I cannot work out how to set up scanning.
I installed the MG6200 series ScanGear MP driver from Canon's site but when I open GIMP or Simple Scan, they say there is no scanner detected.
Hello,
Ever since I switched to Ubuntu 12.04 the scanner on my Epson Stylus NX230 won't work. At the same time I started running lUbutntu because the regular version is too fancy for my crappy old computer. The scanner used to work when I had whatever version I had before, but now when I try to scan an image using either Scanner Utility or Simple Scan it says no scanner is connected.
Issue:
I've a all-in-one printer (Lexmark x6675) directly connect it to my LAN network (with its corresponding ip).
I have a Brother MFC-7345 printer/scanner and I got the printer working but the scanner just won't work on Fedora 11, I've been to the Brother Linux support site and nothing they're saying to do works.
When I type sane-find-scanner i get
# sane-find-scanner will now attempt to detect your scanner. If the
I've had my MFC-440CN printer scanner working with several
prior Ubuntu releases - but 12.04 just will not recognize the
driver. The driver installs without error. There also are
numerous posts that other folks are seeing this same problem.
When I start Simple Scan, I get "No scanners detected".
Is there a fix for this???
Thanks
Carl
I have an HP MFP connected by USB to a computer within my home network, this has Hardy Heron installed and the machine is only used as a printer, scanner server.
Since upgrading my laptop to 12.04 my network printer doesn't work, I get a missing filter error.
Same printer, same computer but using 10.10 liveCD all works fine.
Anyone any ideas as to why a later version does not work.

I have SANE and SANE-scanner installed in my Ubuntu 12.04 box. I have an Epson V500 flatbed scanner, tied by USB to my machine. On my network I also have an HP All-in-One that has scanner functionality. Both are detected by the computer as scanners. I want to always use the Epson scanner but can't find a way to tell SANE-scanner to use the (second listed) Epson scanner.
I decided to try the 64 bit version of 12.04
I have gone through the driver install procedures that have worked for the 32 bit OS but can't seem to find the reason why Xsane and Simple scan don't see my scanner.
The scanner is a Brother MFC3220C.
sane-find-scanner seems to find the device:
Code:
paul@paul-P5K-SE:~$ sane-find-scanner
# sane-find-scanner will now attempt to detect
