Building file server / minecraft server / xbmc based htpc for living room. All running on xfce debian stable. I have everything figured except the graphics. I was going to with a simple dual core pentium until the htpc idea came to me. I don't know if that will be enough to drive dvd player. I can upgrade to an i3...
This will be my first HTPC build. I have built several other gaming PC's but I need help with parts for this HTPC. I am looking for something that will allow me to steam video (Netflix, Hulu, HBOGO, etc.) watch and record TV (not paid cable) rip BluRay or DVD movies to storage so that I can free up a bunch of shelves of movie cases and have the ability to play emulator games.
Gidday! I have been researching a mini PC to use as an HTPC. My current choice is the ThinkCentre M73. Does anyone have any experience using this product as an HTPC? It will mainly be used for music, movies, photo viewing and occasional gaming. Cheers in advance.
Looking at getting a Chromecast to replace my HTPC. I almost exclusively use my HTPC with VLC to watch 1080p TV shows. Can I stream 1080p mkv files to my TV instead of the HTPC? Does the DD 5.1 audio go over the HDMI properly?
I would use my normal desktop PC to stream and get rid of the HTPC if this was possible.
