When upgrading from Vista to Windows 7 during the final stage computer makes a loud buzzing sound and freezes. Only way to stoop this is to turn the laptop off. Windows Upgrade Advisor says compatability is OK. Any suggestions?
This is my situation. I have a computer lab of 23 machines (ACER Veriton M410) running Windows Vista business. We want to update the machines to Windows 7. The school was sold Windows 8 Pro on a Volume License deal and was told they would be able to downgrade to Windows 7.
Can this be done?
If so, I believe I will need to acquire a Windows 7 Pro disk.
I dont think I ever installed windows as an upgrade option over the top of an existing windows. I always format and install windows fresh, so my question is on a vista pc and I install windows 7 over the top upgrade does it keep and retain all settings like personal settings, I know it keeps files but how about like local networking settings and such? Thanks
