Should I reinstall Windows 7 to get advantages of AHCI?

http://superuser.com – I installed Windows 7 onto a Samsung 840 SSD. My motherboard (a ASRock z68 extreme4) was in IDE mode when I performed the installation. When I change the BIOS to be in AHCI mode, Windows won't successfully boot (blue screens mid-boot). Should I reinstall Windows 7 with the motherboard in AHCI mode to get the advantages of AHCI? I do not plan on doing any sort of RAID, this is a normal primary Windows drive. As a note, I just did the Windows 7 install yesterday, so I don't need to worry about losing any data on the hard drive. (HowTos)
