The 6th Annual Crunchies Awards are happening in January (grab a ticket) bringing together a global scene of technology companies. Similarly, The Europas – The European Tech Startup awards – on January 22 in Berlin, honours the European tech startup scene annually, and, after hitting it’s fourth year, it’s become something of an institution on the European tech scene.
Europe is clearly switching its cultural gears. From saying how things can’t be done, to saying how things can be done, our cultural mindset is changing, whether our politicians like it or not. The media might still be in the long grass of austerity, but here on the lawn, we’re celebrating entrepreneurship.

Once again we are co-hosting the awards with GigaOm and VentureBeat and we will return to the beautiful Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco. Last year was our first year at the Davies and it was the best Crunchies yet.

The 6th Annual Crunchies Awards are coming up fast and today is the absolute last day to nominate your favorites in technology. Nominations close tonight at 11:59pm PT and will not be open again, so think about who you would like to nominate, and go do it!
The Crunchies Awards are going to be held on Thursday, January 31st, 2013 at Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco.

At the OSCON 2010 open source convention taking place in Portland, Oregon, O'Reilly Media's Edd Dumbill has announced the winners of this years O'Reilly Open Source Awards. The awards have been presented each year since 2005 to individuals for their "dedication, innovation, leadership and outstanding contribution to open source".
Winners of the LTE awards 2011 have been announced at the LTE World Summit 2011, with Huawei and Gemalto taking out two awards each.
