Hello,
skype has no more icon in system tray when I close its window. It is still active, as its notifications do appear, but I have no more access to it, cannot make calls, etc. If I close its window and try to call it again, I cannot login because it is already in use. System tray is there but only with sound and printer, and the indicator display does not show it as running.
AllTray is an application which docks other application software into the system tray (“notification area”) of a desktop environment such as GNOME, KDE, or XFCE. It aims to be independent of both desktop environment and window manager.
With AllTray you can dock any application with no native tray icon (like Evolution, Thunderbird, Terminals) into the system tray.
using the an old monitor ...I am encountering heretofore strange behaviour
NOT the fault of the monitor
when I minimize a window, it does not show up in a stack above the icon in the lower panel
as in ALL previous KDE desktops
When I hit some unknown key or click on some unknown icon, I see all the minimized windows
lurking out of sight.
Any idea of how to get the minimized win
Wise ones,
Okay, so I've managed to commit a couple of newbie fumbles.
First, whenever I minimize a program window, such as a browser, the window does not "drop to the bottom of the screen" and, in the form of a button, take up placeholder residence in the panel. Instead, the window shrinks down to nothing and simply disappears from the desktop.
On Windows, when you double click on an icon in the system tray the app is showing up.
Is there the way to have the same behavior on ubuntu 12.04? Now I have to single clicking and after that choose to show the window up from the drop-down menu.
So, when I start watching a video or something of the like, VLC puts a nice little icon in the tray. The problem is, that when I open and close VLC it keeps adding another nice little icon in the tray.
Here's a SS for example's sake.
I am using 64-bit Fedora 17 and I have a networked HP Color LaserJet 4650dn.
On this printer, Tray 1 is manual feed and Tray 2 is the "real" paper tray.
I do not know for sure when Fedora started sending everything to tray 1 rather than tray 2 (I guess I don't print much), but...
First, i look at my printer configuration by running "system-config-printer".
I have installed VLC from ubuntu software center I have used it perfectly for some days but now while i try to play a audio or video its get minimized to system tray.
Tried
I have clicked on the vlc icon in the tray but no use with that menu.
Tried to play a video from vlc through terminal but its still
minimized to try.
Uninstalled and installed from different sources(downloaded from
vlc offic
Ubuntu developer Alan Bell has created a pretty handy script that allows us to manage multiple instances of an application from quicklists.
If multiple windows of an application are open on your desktop, this script will only restore the window you have selected by right clicking application icon in Unity launcher (as shown in the screenshot above).
