This week’s official announcement regarding the release of the DROID DNA from HTC continued a trend we have seen of manufacturers pushing the limits of screen size and resolution. The DROID DNA’s 5-inch 1080p display produced by Sharp is certainly an eye-catching feature of the new handset.
Times are tough at Sharp and the 100-year old company is desperate to turn things around. A Japanese news outlet revealed yesterday that massive layoffs are looming, and Sharp plans to relieve itself of several overseas ventures and manufacturing facilities.
Reuters is reporting that part of the plan could be to shrink its solar panel business, closing assembly units in the US and Europe.

Earlier this month we reported on a move by Sharp to capitalize on the 5-inch display they are producing for the HTC DROID DNA. Sharp plans to produce their own Aquos device with the same large 1080p screen. Initial plans were to target the device at the Russian market.
Hi, im having some trouble with my HDMI port on my Dell Inspiron laptop, i have the HDMI cable connected to the laptop and into my Sharp TV, i can see the Sharp Corporation Monitor has been detected in System> preferences> Monitors, i can however get the audio working but i cant seem to get any sort of picture up whatsoever the HDMI cable has been proven on another device
