Ubuntu Community,
Hi all, i want install Ubuntu but i have a HP Laptop that have 4 partitions by default C, HP_TOOLS, RECOVERY and SYSTEM, so i cant make another 2 partition, just one more (for data sharing win-ubuntu).
Presently in the install (USB stick) for 32-bit Ubuntu 12.04.1. Want to have dual-boot capabilities between Windows 7 and Ubuntu. Have partitioned hard drive with Windows System (sda1), Windows OS (sda2), Ubuntu (sda3 - with ext4 file system and a "/" mount point), swap (sda4) and need to know what file system to select for the remaining free space (storage) partition with a /home mount point?
Here is what my partition looked like yesterday morning:
[100 mb system partition] [499.9 gb partition for Windows 8]
I ran disk manager and reduced the Windows 8 partition.
System specs: Acer Aspire 5738Z, Ubuntu 11.10 with GParted. 320GB hard-drive. (GParted is confused, the total of all partitions is 426GB, but the manufacturer's sticker clearly says "320GB HDD".)
I had allocated 10GB to Ubuntu during the installation a year and a bit ago. I thought that I could have a copy of any file on my windows partition, so I wouldn't need it on the Ubuntu one.
Hi All,
I currently have a working triple-boot setup on my 320Gb Asus u80a laptop (XP,7,ubuntu). I initially used gparted to do all my partioning. I created a 10GB partition for XP, a 20GB for Win7 and about 120GB for Ubuntu, 4gb swap and the rest is still unallocated. My ubuntu partition (which I use regularly) is functioning perfectly.
I'm running a dual boot of both Ubuntu 11.10 and Windows 7. I have two hard drives, and three partitions: Windows 7 on a dedicated SSD, Ubuntu on the second hard drive, first partition, and then a "Data" partition on that same drive. I have already moved all my linked "libraries" from Windows to the "Data" partition.
Note: The Data partition is a ntfs partition.
I want to install ubuntu 11.10 along side with windows7, I have already installed win7,My Hard disk(600GB) contains 6 partitions. I want install install ubuntu to a separate partition, but when I try to install ubuntu. it shows only 2 partitions, C(100GB) driver and another partition which already taken the rest of the space(500GB).I want to install ubuntu to a free partition (100GB).
I just bought a new laptop that comes with Windows 7 preinstalled and I want to install Ubuntu alongside with it.
The system came with 5 partitions:
System partition
Unknown partition
NTFS partition (the one with windows)
NTFS partition (to be used for data)
A recovery partition
I had removed the NTFS data partition and shrinked the windows partition to make room for Ubuntu as it will be my m
