http://askubuntu.com – I just installed Ubuntu 11.10 Desktop on an old machine for file sharing/media streaming and data backup. I set up the shared folders and things were going well... When I tried the first file transfer (from a Vista desktop to the Ubuntu Desktop) three files of eight transferred and then the transfer froze. Now the Ubuntu machine isn't discoverable on the network from either of the Vista machines and I can't get Ubuntu to connect to them either. I can ping the IP of the Ubuntu computer from either of my Vista computers. Did I lose a permission or something somewhere? (HowTos)
