I recently decided to try out Ubuntu and to be honest the installation was easy and everything worked including printing to Windows Shared Printers and Windows Files Servers and then after two days of everything working fine the network connection to Windows stopped.
I set up samba on my 12.04 Ubuntu install. I shared a folder from my home directory.
When I go to my Windows 7 box, I can see the Ubuntu box on the network, but when I try to connect, I get a "Windows Security" prompt to enter my network password, but entering my password doesn't work.
Hello to Crunchbang men and women..I am stumbling around trying to get Gigolo- under remote filesystems - to access a windows share. The windows share is a network drive (dns-323). Not sure of how to enter address string, and everything I've tried so far has failed. Its basically setup to be open - with no groups, or users defined.
Hi..
I have some .bin installation packages in a Windows network share.
I want to install this packages in a Ubuntu Server 12.04 with very little disk space, so I would like to install it directly from the Windows Network share, Something like:
\\WinServerName\folder\Package.bin --mode text
Is it possible to do this?
Thanks.
I have a wireless network configured at home. I have a Windows XP laptop and a Ubuntu 12.04.1 laptop. I have shared a folder on both computers. I am able to read/write files from my Windows computer to my Ubuntu computer.
I just tried sharing the old My Videos file folder on my 500GB Windows drive and it shows that it's shared but when I try to access it over the network it's saying I don't have permission. I checked the box to allow guests access. Still no sharing. How do I accomplish this?
In my Home Folder it shows as 500GB device with the eject symbol next to it.
