Hello all. I've been trying to tinker with Ubuntu 12.04's drop shadow in the theme. I quickly found out that Compiz can only go to 18 on radius, and to give it more, you should go and modify the <shadow> xml tags in it's theme folder. I've pumped the number up to 48 (actually, i've tried 0, 12, 24, 36, and 48); all of which really give no change.
In < 11.10 this can be done from gconf-editor, but that doesn't seem to work in 12.04. The metacity-theme.xml file also set the active shadow much larger than 18, but no effect. So anyone know how? Thx.
I have installed Compiz on Xubuntu 11.10 with
sudo apt-get install compiz compizconfig-settings-manager
compiz --replace ccp &
In the process the XFCE window decoration theme is overridden by that of Compiz (Gtk).
So here's the issue, which i hope has a simple solution. If i activate xcompmgr, my Conky gets a shadow around it, and terminal windows have no shadows(this is also mentioned in another thread)If i use cairo-compmgr, terminals now have shadow and Conky doesn't get a shadow...
I tried doing some research to find out what an 'x' in the password field of the shadow and the gshadow files means and couldn't find an answer that I'm sure about. I know an 'x' in the passwd and groups files means that the Shadow Suite is being used and the 'x' acts as a place holder.
HelloI could solve the problem, but didn't discovered what caused it.I run and Ubuntu and the SMART tools and badblocks said the disk was fine. Then I run fsck and it said the file /etc/shadow was flagged (or something like that) and that it had a few errors. It suggested a few changes and I applied them.
Hi everyone ! :)I've finished to install my new waldorf system, but i still have one problem. In fact, when i run some 3d programs i wrote, some "Break lines" appear on the screen. I think this is due to the shadow effect under windows.
Shadow Shoppe is a unique game/research project:

I am noticing a lot of weird files appearing in my router and on my various filesystems. Files in weird places or files that have to do with security with a - sign after them.
If I do ls -l /etc/shadow*, this is what I see.
-rw-r----- 1 root shadow 1163 Aug 9 15:48 shadow
-rw------- 1 root root 1163 Aug 8 21:11 shadow-
Does that look normal? What is the 2nd shadow file used for?
