I'm not sure if I am going to describe this properly. I have a OSX Lion server(don't ask me why this was requested) linked to a domain (for examples sake server.domain.net).
Outside access is working as intended. However for local clients access to the domain causes errors as the domain points to the same network.
I've attempted this several times now and never got it exactly correct. I am looking to setup my ML5 server as a VPN Server, Domain server, DHCP Server and file server.
Hi all..
So i have little home network as shown on the picture..
I know how to build everything, but i have no idea about IPs/gateways/subnetmasks and so on..
Please help and show me the right configuration for the modem and wireless router.
Right now my pc#s have ip's like 10.0.0.x but thats clas A network..
internet modem has 192.168.1.1 and its assigning ip to the server and to the w
My ISP gave me a really crappy router-modem-combination that lacks basic features. For instance you can't assign a constant ip to the mac adress of a client PC. I run a server for my home entertainment system and a storage server.
10.04 server LTS 64 bit.
Having some problems getting the LAN on the internet, probably incorrect forwarding. I'll make a thread for that. I'd like some help choosing which packages to use to get me where I need to go.
I have a Fedora 9 (Sulphur) server(2.6.45-14.fc9.i686 kernel) with 2 PCI NIC's ETH0(this is the local network) and eth1(this is connected to the internet via router, but the router is not neccessary).
So everything is working fine on this server.
Here is the server:
Internet-->router-->server(eth1)-->server(eth0)-->switch-->clients
So what i did:

I have a Win2k8 R2 server and Win 7 clients. The Server has DHCP and DNS running on it. So far so good everything works fine.
Now the problem comes when I also enable DHCP on the router so that clients can get an Internet connection when the Server is down.
I have a small office, with ATT Motorola modem (192.168.1.254) set as passthrough to
Dlink DIR-815 (LAN 192.168.0.1)
I am trying to setup DHCP server on Server 2012, and when I create new DHCP server, the title is created as 169.254.. instead of the domain name.
I am trying to accomplish a task that may, or may not, require a creative solution. Essentially, I want to run my own DHCPd and, more importantly, DNS for my home network.
I want to run my own Name Server for the purpose of having *.local names assigned to our various computers and devices.
