Want to move our team over from one server that hosts development environments for a bunch of websites to something more flexible and powerful.
What are your opinions on the best way to approach the following:
Host multiple LAMP based websites in different states of development (from mostly dormant to daily active).
So basically, is LAMP strictly for development purposes or is it fine for production websites as well? I ask this because I have recently switched to Ubuntu from Windows and if WAMP is anything like LAMP, it is more aimed towards development than production (live) websites.
Does the same apply for LAMP? I wish to run a small website on Ubuntu and I'm wondering if LAMP is secure enough.
I am planning to set up a server hosting multiple websites on a single high-end Linux server on Virtualization-enabled Hardware using a LAMP stack.
I have decided to go with Centos 6.2 as a KVM host with two Virtual Machines running on top of it, of similar Centos Version.
One to act a Web Server and other act as a MySQL database server.
On a Gentoo 3.2.12 server with apache2+php, there are several websites running:
/www
/website1
/website2
...etc
The apache user should have read-only access to all the websites. There are also a few folders inside each website where apache should have read-write access (upload folders and the like).
There are several people who work on these websites.
At work there are about 40 PCs. I want to block all the websites and only allow a few Domains/Websites for operators. A few operators can access anything.
I want something quick and easy so I can filter the Block/Allow websites for all computers from one main computer, like a server or something.
Windows Vista Home and Windows 7 Home are installed on the PCs.
Hey everyone,
After much thought I want to start developing my own apps. From my research everything seems like all over the place where to start and stuff. A lot of posts and articles are outdated and I cant see to find answer to my question. I know Android apps rely heavily on java and some books i looked at said that this isn't a book for app development just for websites.
Hi guys
I tired to search around for some simple instructions, but no luck. So please help me.
I ma noob with servers. Don't know much about ti at all. I have VPS server with cPanel on it. Server is 8GB/Ultimate at GoDaddy. Now lately my website traffic is growing and running server into heavy load. usually is 3.00 or 4.00, but run into 40 the other day.
We're thinking about moving from a shared hosting to a dedicated server (a managed one, we don't want to manage/maintain it for now). I keep reading that it's best to have a server for the websites and a server for the databases.
I just put in a new nic in my server that is acting as a router and also a name server. After that i am able to use the internet though it and everything but my websites that i am hosting on another server are not working. Some of the websites are working but they have back up name servers but all the websites that are only using the our name server are down. what could the problem be?
