Here's a quick summary of the environment I support: we have a domain (domain A) that has about 20 client computers. The domain server for this domain and all the clients sit within the network infrastructure of a larger domain (domain B). All the computers get their network settings via DHCP from domain B's servers.
I am looking into creating a local Domain Server to host roaming profiles. I created a domain controller but my clients cannot connect. Clients state they are unable to connect to selected domain.
Any ideas or where I can get started with setting up a local domain? It only about 25 accounts but I need it to expand to more later down the line.
I have a small office, with ATT Motorola modem (192.168.1.254) set as passthrough to
Dlink DIR-815 (LAN 192.168.0.1)
I am trying to setup DHCP server on Server 2012, and when I create new DHCP server, the title is created as 169.254.. instead of the domain name.
I recently set up a server with AD DC and used a mydomain.local address for it. I now would like to be able to access the server through remote desktop from outside my local network. So I have purchased a domain name that I have set up with my router for DDNS and forwarded to the IP of my server.
Currently I have a network with 1 ISP, a router/modem, Gigabyte Switch and a server.
All the clients PC are automatically assign IP from DHCP server from a Router/Modem A.
Server A have a fixed IP (eg: 192.168.1.50), installed Linux - used for a Web Server, Asterisk, and Backup use.
I need a new second ISP with separate modem but I want Server B (eg: 192.168.1.60) use ISP B network only.
This is a bit of a weird one. I'm running ubuntu on a Windows domain. If I type "ping server" I can ping correctly and I can connect without any problems. It looks up my search domain (domain.local) and everything is hunky dory.
Problem is when I try to ping server.domain.local.
I've been able to set up a routed OpenVPN on my VPS running Ubuntu 10.04.
I'm able to ping both ways as well as open any website using IP-addresses on the client. Via domain names however, it does not work.
Since I'm fairly new to OpenVPN and Linux for that matter I'm not really sure where
to start troubleshooting.
I have LAN setup with public server on it. The server is accessible via domain example.com. If I access example.com from within lan, it goes over my ISP. I wish it went just over my local network. Hosts file is not an option, sice most pcs are mobile and will access server both from within lan and over the internet.
I'm in the process of learning Windows Server 2012, so I just did a fresh reinstall of it. Before I actually setup a local domain, I'm wondering how to access this from outside of my network.
