Setting mobile broadband connection in Fedora 17

http://unix.stackexchange.com – I am using a Dell Precision M4500. I've realized that there is a SIM slot underneath the battery slot, I suppose it is for using mobile broadband access. I am usually connecting to the internet through the tethered signal from my Android mobile and I was thinking that it maybe easier to configure the PC to use the SIM from my phone and get internet access directly. The first thing I need to confirm is that there is actually a broadband modem or some device that can connect to 3G and not just the slot in the computer bones. I've tried lspci and lsusb but I cannot recognize any device that c (HowTos)

hi,

i'm thinking if one can use mobile phones to connect to the internet on a computer(laptop, desktop) then why not use any broadband connection to connect a mobile phone to the internet.

1) is it possible ? 2) if yes, then what do i need to do ? 3) if no, why not ?

I am able to establish a mobile broadband connection but I still don't have access to internet. The mobile broadband works without any issues from Windows 7 on the same machine.

I configured the mobile broadband connection in the unity network manager.

Hi everyone,I am trying to install Arch, but I need an internet connection.To connect to the internet, I need to get my USB Mobile Broadband working.But, unfortunately, while wvdial seems to successfully connect to my Mobile Broadband (according to terminal output anyway), it acts as if it is not connected.Pinging fails and indicates no internet connection.

I have a Dell studio 1558 laptop. I have installed Ubuntu 10.10 in my laptop. Previously, i have installed 10.04 version. The mobile broadband was working properly in Ubuntu 10.04, but once I installed the new 10.10 version, the mobile broadband is not working.

When I connect my mobile phone, it is detected, and I can create a new connection.

ZTE MF100 modem not working 2 days 3 hours ago

Hi all,

I have a Claro ZTE MF100 mobile broadband modem. Works on Windows with the installed drivers. A few months ago the exact same device and connection was working on Fedora 17.

Now I have Fedora 18 installed. The modem is recognized, I get an option Mobile Broadband, I turn it on, it shows the Claro connection with its signal strength and below it another option Automobile Broadband.

Hi! I'm a new user and I would like to use my ZTE K-3565-z from Vodafone to connect to the internet.

When I plug in the device it will ask me for the pin, after inserting the pin I will be presented a new menu to configure my connection. After all be filled the mobile broadband appears on the network manager, but I can't connect...

I really need some help...

I have a Thinkpad X61 with a built-in SIM card slot for mobile broadband. My Australian SIM card (Telstra) is always recognized, but now I'm in Switzerland and want to use another prepaid card (from Sunrise). The card works in my mobile phone, but when I put it into the notebook, I don't get any Mobile Broadband options in NetworkManager.
