Here's a quick summary of the environment I support: we have a domain (domain A) that has about 20 client computers. The domain server for this domain and all the clients sit within the network infrastructure of a larger domain (domain B). All the computers get their network settings via DHCP from domain B's servers.
I'm testing a new server and have been playing with /etc/hosts.
I have been able to get it working on just domain.com, but if I try www.domain.com it points to where the actual domain is currently delegated, not the testing server.
ie
xxx.xx.xx.xx domain.com
If I load domain.com, I get the ip address I enter.
I have a 2nd-level domain we'd like to use for mapping to our internal services on a linux server of ours. The domain is registered via 1&1, and I'd like to have the domain set up such that ns1.ourdomain.com, ns2.ourdomain.com, etc.
In a lab environment, I am attempting to configure an SCCM server (2007) to be our patch solution across three different domains.
DOMAIN A (domA.sample):
The trusted domain. SCCM01 (Server) is on this network.
DOMAIN B (domB.sample):
One way trust between the two domains.
I was previously paying for a VPS but have decided to setup a home server instead to save money.
I have a static ip address 12.34.56.78 and have registered a domain name mydomain.com.
I am running CentOS and have BIND running (I setup a Virtual Host for mydomain.com using VirtualMin, which also setup all the BIND nameserver entries for me).
Hi,
I have used a domain for the server name -> server.domain.co.uk
The glue records have been updated accordingly.
I have created an account for domain.co.uk but it is uncontactable so I guess its DNS records need editing.
Am I correct and if so what on earth do I set them too?
Unthinkingly I bought an ssl cert for the server not realising I would need to use an email address fr
I have a domain registered through namecheap.com, and I have 2 nameservers for my domain (ns1, ns2.domain.com). Both nameservers are being pointed to my VPS IP address. I can access my VPS fine through IP, but not my domain. I am using webmin 1.6, and have my master zone all setup. Here is the records file:
; domain.com
$TTL 3600
domain.com. IN SOA a.root-servers.net. email@msn.com.
How to configure a 123-reg domain with DynDNS and a linux server?
Hi,
I've just set up a CentOS web server running lamp, purchased a domain from 123-reg and have signed up for DynDNS standard.
I'm really confused how I get the domain to link in with Dyn.
The client updater is working fine and I can access the website from the public IP, but whenever I go to the domain it just tells me it's a 12
I have a Windows 2012 NFS server setup to use my AD domain as an authentication source. My domain is ad.example.com with a NetBIOS name of AD. My linux machines have idmapd configured to use ad.example.com as the domain. When I try and ls my folders I get all the user and groups returning as nobody. I tracked it down and I realized that the Windows NFS Server is sending the domain as AD.
