I'm trying to set up a dual monitor machine with an Intel DH67BL monitor, Ivy Bridge i5-3450 CPU and dual Samsung 204b monitors.
I cant seem to get the computer to recognize more than one of these monitors at a time.
I can get either monitor to work using the DVI port directly or with a DVI-VGA cable, or by using the HDMI port with an HDMI-DVI cable.
I managed to sort of get them working by sub
I guess I'm not a total beginner to Ubuntu, but when it comes to XORG I feel like I am.
I have two monitors, monitor 1 has a resolution of 1440x900, monitor 2 has a resolution of 1600x900.
I have just setup a dual monitor system with a 23 inch LED monitor and a 19 inch LCD monitor. The 23 inch one is connected through HDMI. The 19 inch one is connected to the analogue port of the same GPU (Nvidia Geforce 210).
In Ubuntu 12.10, after installing Nvidia drivers, the 23 inch monitor works fine but the 19 inch monitor got a very low resolution.

The graphics card on my computer has inputs for (at least) two separate monitors. I have one monitor that is high resolution, and I like using it for X (anything graphical).
I am a relatively new user of Ubuntu and I am using 12.04 LTS. Today I discovered when my system boots it enters into one of my user accounts automatically (I have them setup for my children). My system has dual monitors and only one monitor is receiving a video signal. The resolution is incorrect. Any windows that are open are split on the screen and I cant get focus of them.

Also, the one labelled correctly has a resolution of 1280X1024 which is fine, but the unknown one has a resolution of 800x600. This is not ok.
This is a collection of different programs that behave differently when set to fullscreen mode. Both monitors are connected to an NVidia GTX 650, my primary monitor (according to software) is set at 1920x1080 resolution and to the right of my secondary monitor, which is set at 1280x1024 resolution. Now, for the bizarreness.Steam (installed via repos) when set to big picture mode occupies my p
So this is a problem for me since I have two monitors set up for my Ubuntu Desktop. I'm running Ubuntu 12.04.
Ok, so first when I installed Ubuntu I had this problem with enabling the second monitor as at the same time not mirroring the two monitors. Ubuntu did not now how to set the required resolution. I searched for an answer and got one fixing my problem.
