hello
I have a problem with my DWA-556 when using it as an access point with madwifi and hostapd.
The access point appears normally to users when starting hostapd, but when more than one user connects to it, it disappears.
Another problem is that when i stop hostapd to change the channel, the network doesn't appear to users after restarting hostapd.
This is my hostapd.conf file:
interface=ath0
I have been trying to get my Ubuntu 11.10 laptop to make an access point to connect my blackberry playbook . hostapd gave error
Configuration file: ./hostapd-minimal.conf
nl80211: 'nl80211' generic netlink not found
nl80211 driver initialization failed.
Is this a BCM4312 problem?

Hi folks,
I am having some trouble getting my wireless access point server up and running. I have hostapd and the DHCP server working such that a device can connect to the network and is assigned an IP on 192.168.5.*. All network traffic works on this subnet.
The server is connected to the Internet via the secured ethernet at my university.
Hi,
sorry for posting twice but I understand that tutorials are not meat to add posts to any more (?). So, I repeat the post I appended at the end of the thread http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1663788&page=2. I hope that this is not against the rules:
I followed the tutorial above step by step for turning an eeePC 1005HA running UBUNTU 10.04 into a wireless access point.
Hi everyone,
I have been investigating the Hostapd application for some time now, and I have sorta got things working???
However, I am seeing log messages that I don't understand.
