Set initial value of 'fn' brightness key?

http://forums.fedoraforum.org – I'm running F18 64-bit on an ASUS K55N laptop and I'd like to set the default panel (LCD) brightness when I boot. This appears to be a hardware issue, since I've got an updated ATI driver and have set it properly, but the panel itself defaults to a too-dark shade. When I hit fn+F6 (increase brightness) after logging in (KDE), it's only at 20%. When I ramp it up to a normal level, it looks fine. So, X, the video driver, etc. are OK, apparently. It's just the hardware default, maybe? So, is there a way to have the OS automatically do this for me at boot or login time? Something I can run at s (HowTos)
