I cannot connect to VPN through networkmanager anymore. Last time used it, it worked perfectly but I don't use it so often and last time was 2-3 months ago. So I don't know what went wrong, or which package upgrade broke it. I switched to systemd a month ago, it may or may not be related.
I get this error when ever I try to connect my desktop with another desktop using SSH, but I'm able to ping the other desktop successfully.
ssh: connect to host 192.168.1.7 port 22: Connection refused
When I try to restart sshd, it says sshd : unrecognized service
I can connect to remote server using SSH but I'm not able to connect within the local network.
Please help me in this regards,

I just installed Zorin OS 6. I opened Chrome but it does not connect to any sites besides Google. It's connected to my wireless network before. I downloaded Chrome update from the App Center (?) but it still doesn't work. Then I messed up with the connection settings and deleted Network connection 1. Is that a preset or I created one? I didn't remember. :mad:
Have had WiFi working fine via wifi-menu on command line for a while, but would much prefer the gnome icon, so i switched to NetworkManager, and now nothing will connect.
I enabled my dhcp daemon in the config file, but the issue seems to happen before that point... any network I try it just refuses to connect to. It sees networks, then fails to connect immediately on click.
I've just upgraded one of my systems from 12.04 to 12.10. Now I can't connect on that system beyond my local network. Connections within the local network seem to work fine, and I can make nonlocal connections from other machines (like the one I'm sending this post from). I suspect that some routing information has been messed up, but I don't know where to look for it.
Suppose I have a bunch of facilities, each with a /16 network under the 10.0.0.0/8 private address range. For example, my head office is 10.0.0.0/16, and we have two branches 10.1.0.0/16 and 10.2.0.0/16.
Can I use these network addresses across leased lines or through a VPN to connect between the sites?
I've just moved to a new apartment and with internet connection via a router and I'm finding that I can't connect to quite a few sites that use SSL.
For example trying to connect to PayPal:
curl -v https://paypal.com
* About to connect() to paypal.com port 443 (#0)
* Trying 66.211.169.3...
Hi all. I've run into a problem I just can't figure out how to fix and was hoping someone else might be able to help. Running karmic, it seems my computer just CANNOT connect to certain websites sometimes, even though those sites are not down. I mean I cannot even ping the site. When I try to ping, the DNS routes just fine and I get the IP address with no problem, it just never gets any response.
I've bought myself a new laptop (Asus UX31E), but I'm having trouble with getting it to connect to a network. Well, sort of at least. In order to establish a connection I have to manually run dhcpcd -x before trying to connect to the network. If not, NetworkManager says it couldn't connect.
