Hello everybody.
I've been using ssh recently to access a schools supercomputer, and that made me wonder if I could somehow do the same between my home machines.
I figure that if I get my machines (2) into a wired network I can make them 'see' each other (and interact through ssh), in fact I used to control one PC from another using VNC.
I recently switched over from Windows XP to Ubuntu 10.04. I am unable to connect to the network. Both wired and wireless are not working. I tried to connect by assigning the IP address manually and also by automatic DHCP assigning. It did not work. In the wired network when I access a site I get the message unable to connect to server. Pinging in wired network is 100% success.
i have 3 network cards , 1 Lan (wired) , 1 wireless network card & 1 is wireless usb
how do i ping from specific network card ?
& how do i use specific network card for specific application
example
i want to ping google from wlan1
example for specific application
i want to use firefox or transmission from wan1
Lan ip 192.168.0.2 > Working Properly
pin -I wlan1 googl
This is my network:
Dotted lines indicate wireless connections, solid lines indicate Ethernet connections.
I used two ASUS routers and Tomato to bridge my network.
I'm at a complete loss AND I have no idea what I'm doing.
Box and network via ethernet was fine. Moved the box with a new ethernet connection. Network crapped out.
All of a sudden my machine's wireless network is not connecting to my WiFi router. How can I figure out if its an issue with the WLAN card or if its withing the Ubuntu system settings ?Is there a command to check if the wireless is working ?
$ nm-tool
NetworkManager Tool

We have a small office network with DSL and a Netgear WNR-2000 wireless router acting as a DHCP server. There are nine devices connected to the router, wirelessly and wired. Whenever a Mac computer tries to connect, it's unsuccessful until we restart the router.
I have a computer with two network cards.
From what I understand, I can use bonding to achieve greater throughput, so I followed this tutorial:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuBonding
Till now, I've only managed to make the bonding work with mode 802.3ad. Any other mode just doesn't work.
