Hallo,
I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 with latest updates on HP desktop computer with embed sandy bridge intel graphic card and onboard display port connector.
The problem is that, when the monitor goes to sleep and it is connected to the display port, it will never wake up. I have to hard restart the computer.

Hi, I just recently switched from Ubuntu to Fedora 11, and noticed that the very same thing that was bugging me with Ubuntu behaves the same with Fedora. Although I have configured APM to put the monitor to sleep, it only appears to display a black screen. I can tell 'cause the backlight of the TFT monitor remains lid. I had this very same problem with Ubuntu, in both Gnome and KDE environments.
Huh, weird. When I posted the above I ran “export LANG="en_GB.UTF-8"” followed by “xfce4-power-manager-settings” to see how the options are named in English. The monitor sleep mode was set to “Suspend”, which everywhere else seems to correspond to the term “Standby” when the language is set to German.
Hi, I like Fedora, but i am frustrated now, any kernel above 3.3.4 wont boot on my laptop without external monitor connected. Only shows grub, and then turn off screen, Fedora boot, but i see nothing, when i plug monitor i See badly loaded GDM, but when i booting with external monitor Laptop screen turns on again after start GDM.
I have an HP Pavilion dv6 laptop and a standalone monitor at home. They work correctly together when I plug the monitor in and configure it via Displays.
However, when I unplug the monitor and suspend the laptop, upon waking up I see only an inch or so of the rightmost portion of the desktop on the leftmost portion of my screen.
I am running Xubuntu 12.10 on a HP dv2000 laptop with no external monitor connected. I went into the display settings and unchecked use this monitor or something like that. As soon as I did that my screen went black. I'm assuming that it things that there is a second monitor and now the "second monitor" is the main display? How can I get my main screen back?
Dear all,
I have a Dell XPS13 connected via a mini-display port+DVI cable to an external monitor. I have installed Kubuntu 13.04 and all is working well, EXCEPT that the resolution on the external monitor only mirrors the resolution of my laptop screen (1920x1080). I only see one "default" screen when I try to set it up (settings-> display, or kcm_screen).
Hello,
I've recently installed Ubuntu 11.10 32bit on my laptop. I use a 2nd monitor connected to my laptop and after installing & updating Ubuntu for the first time, I went to display settings to set the monitor as the main display and deactivated the laptop screen display.
