I have the following scenario i must implement using Postfix (but don't know how to begin):
Say we have a domain aaa.com which is hosted somewhere (this is already functioning without any problems).
I have an Ec2 instance on amazon AWS. i have installed , dovecot,postfix on server, mail incoming mail server is IMAP mail.xxxx.com .
I am able to configure my mails with gmail, outlook etc, using the IMAP. and can send and receive emails, The problem is that i want to send emails through PHP code using my mail server.
I'm setting up a new mail server for my company with Ubuntu Server 11.04 and postfix/dovecot. I'm new on this so I have some problems. I'm getting it works only for receving mails from any address outside the lan and I can send only for the same domain. If I try to send a new message with it to an outside address (eg gmail) I have Relay denied.
Hi,
I have recently built a new DNS server and created a new zone.
I use an ESMTP server to handle mail and the new domain has been added to this.
I can send mail to gmail and other domain addresses but unable to send it to one particular domain. (DSN:Service Unavailable)
DNS appears correct and I can dig all domains etc.
Ok We have a difference of opinion on something and wanted to get some expert advice.
We host our mail with our main domain "OurDomain.net" with a third part mail provider. We have an in house application that has to be able to send mail out to our clients.

I noticed that one of our servers (running Ubuntu) can send mails to any domain (yahoo.com ,gmail.com) using simple "sendmail" command.
But I cannot figure out how to configure similar setup in a new server. I cannot see any files such as "/etc/mail/sendmail.cf" in the first server.
How does this work ? Does it use some other SMTP server to do actual mail delivery?
My litle problem is about mail() function in PHP, it doesnt want to send emails, to my local server, or anywhere else. I don't think that function was supposed to send mail to adresses like: jouye@gmail.com;
So I've installed a mail server: hmailserver, I installed a client: dream-mail; I installed sendmaill.exe;
What I'm supposed to do is send emails from Ubuntu. The easiest way I have found is using Thunderbird and linking my real e-mail address (abc@hotmail.com) to Thunderbird account.
I can successfully receive e-mails and download full history this way.
