We already reported that the next Nexus 7 will sport the Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU instead of the current NVIDIA Tegra 3, and Reuters is now confirming it. Also unsurprisingly, they are reporting that it will have a better display.
Someone was lucky enough to get their hands an the roadmap for Snapdragon processors. It shows what is ahead for Qualcomm and its beloved processor brand. A few of the listed Snapdragon processors are already known, but there is a new series introduced in this alleged roadmap.
As reported earlier, Qualcomm’s latest mobile development platform (MDP), the Snapdragon S4 Pro Dev is now available. Powering this device is their new APQ8064 chipset based on a quad core Snapdragon S4. Given the strong numbers posted by dual core S4 chips against quad core chipsets from other manufacturers, it should be no surprise that the quad core S4 just blows them away.
With Google’s Nexus 8 tablet rumored to be released this July alongside Google IO, several other rumors about the device have surfaced. One glaring rumor is that Google is opting for Intel’s Moorefield CPU rather than Qualcomm’s Snapdragon, which is currently being used in their Nexus 7 (2013) and Nexus 5 devices.
