We have a small environment where a dedicated System Center Data Protection Manager 2012 server is used to back up everything; the server has no performance problems and plenty of hardware resources available.
We also have a Hyper-V cluster, and would like to use System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2012 to manage it; but, for obvious reasons, we would like to avoid to run this software on a VM
We have 2 Hyper-V servers running in a small office, and are looking at using SCVMM for managing VMs. I have used SCVMM before, but only in test environments, and I have always installed it on a VM. In a production environment, where should SCVMM be installed?
I've read some information on TechNet about upgrading SCVMM 2008 -> 2012 but can't quite figure out the best way to approach this.
The current setup is that we've got SCVMM 2008 R2 installed but against best practice it was actually installed on the Hyper-V host machine since its a small scale deployment its just a single server setup with SCVMM existing on the same host rather than be in a VM.
Background:
We're running a couple of Virtual servers in Hyper-V at a small office using Windows 2008 R2.
We only have 1 physical host (and we aren't planning to change that any time soon). We're looking to move to Hyper-V Server 2012.
Currently we have a small UPS that keeps the server running for about 20 minutes and then sends a shutdown message to Windows 2008. The UPS Connects via USB.
In the next couple months we are looking to add Failover and Load Balancing to our environment. We will have 2 servers that are Hyper V Hosts. We are looking to have an IIS App server and SQL Database server on both of the hosts. That way if one box fails, the other will be there to take it's place. Now my confusion comes from some google searches I have been making.
This is quite a general question but I need some advice on clustering apache linux servers ideally on VM.
I have some apache servers that are being using that are highly used on space (i.e. each server has 250gb of data on it) at the moment these are physical servers but I've built a VMware build to get away from the physical servers.
I am a newbie and I need some help. I want to create a virtual network infrastructure that is sharing the resources of 3 physical servers. I want to create a resource pool, containing my three physical servers. My virtual network is going to have only 6 VMs. I will be using Microsoft Server 2008 standard edition. I am wondering what software should I use to achieve this?
We are pretty new to VMWare and looking for some thoughts on our environment.
We have a VMWare cluster that has on one host:
VM#1: MS Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise & SQL Server 2012
VM#2: MS Windows 2008 R2 Standard & IIS
The IIS asp.net app talks directly to the SQL Server.
Greetings,
I'm looking for some pointers, and I'm not sure where to go for advice.
I have a server farm consisting of 9 servers, separated into two zones (DMZ/LAN).
