Ok I'm currently running 11.10 amd64 and I have had to reformat at least 7 times in the last two weeks. Any time I have to do a hard reboot Ubuntu will no longer boot (sometimes). Other times it initially wont want to boot but after a few tries it will.
I'm having a problem with my Kubuntu. It's almost a fresh install (I've only installed the typical apps/codecs only).
Sometimes it boots fast, and sometimes it boots slow. It's almost random. So, I installed bootchart and now I bring you the logs of a fast boot and a slow boot. I don't know why dmseg says the boot time is almost the same (~52 seconds).
Does anyone know why on the first boot Ubuntu 11.10 is very slow to move from the logon screen to the desktop in Unity 3D (and any other desktop for that matter)?
This has only recently started to be a problem. Up to about a month ago I was amazed at how fast Ubuntu would boot from cold to desktop.
Hello all, was having issue install ubuntu 11.10 so I tried the alternative iso, and all went well, until after install i get a black screen, so I tried the press e at the grub screen and delete quiet slash, and put nomodeset and then hit ctr-x to reboot. Then I get the following on a black screen;
Begin: Loading essential drivers ... done.
Begin: Running /scripts/init-premount ...
I've set up a debootstrap image in accordance with this guide: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DisklessUbuntuHowto
The machine is now booting, but it is not running my init scripts? I have a cp2node scripts which assigns the machine a hostname, mounts /dev/sda for swap and scratch, and mounts NFS shares.
Hi, would like to go back to stock and am having problems getting into fast boot. I installed the original image file on my sd card it goes into fast boot and apears to begin to flash the recover after a couple of second it has the android laying down with the exclamation point. Anybody have any ideas? I am currently rooted and boot unlocked.
I have OpenSuse 11.4.
I start some on-boot scripts inside /etc/init/boot.local.
Where could I move those scripts so that they would be started after all (most) environment variables got initialized?
These scripts need to be started really once, so things such as /etc/profile.local aren't candidates.
I try to start Sonar, which searches for Java in some strange way (instead just by look up JAVA
In my Fedora 16 installation I've recently noticed that it tries to connect to wireless at boot (I have kernel messages turned on at boot so I can see it trying).
I'm experiencing a really weird boot problem. With both 12.10 and 12.04LTS, the vast majority of kernels (and initrds) that I've tried boot, but hang immediately after printing out information about USB devices. This isn't exactly a full "hang" so to speak, as if I plug in a flash drive, I see information and a /dev/sd* entry printed to the screen.
