I have a new install of Ubuntu desktop on an old IBM T43 laptop, and I am trying to get conky up and running. I've copied one of the sample .conkyrc files from the conky sourceforge page and pasted it into ~/.conkyrc . However, I've rebooted conky several times (killall -SIGUSR1 conky) and it still uses the default configuration in: /etc/conky/conky.conf .
So, the exec variable is a necessary evil for me. I mean it is a complete cpu hog.
I created a script to monitor some behind the scenes activity of my pc and then incorporated in conky via the exec variable. Each instance of exec uses about 3 % of CPU on my linux pc.
Hey guys. I'm trying to install a new conky that I got off a website. I'm really new to conky and ubuntu in general but here's my issue.
If you want your linux desktop to look good, you cannot omit conky, the amazing system monitor tool that you can put on the desktop with endless creative ways. I run a simple conkyrc which I launch and toggle on/off using a separate bash script and places an icon in the system tray. This launcher script is added to startup via systemsettings and both scripts are of course executable. I have no problem with the conkyrc itself, but the launcher script no longer functions as it should.
Cron 2 years 26 weeks ago Hi All :)I've been working on my tint2 and conky configs today and decided to get a couple of things going which I haven't tried before. One was showing unread emails in my conky, and the other was showing the number of updates available from apt.I have the email stuff working now (configs soon to appear in the My Conky Config thread), but am a bit stuck on the updates part.
you can place your .conky rc for i3 anywhere and just put in the proper path. I place my i3 conkyrc in the .i3 directory, then call appropriatelystatus_command conky -c /home/you/.i3/.conkyrc
