I'm trying to figure out how to use my Linux 12.02 computer (no dual boot) to screen a film for a class I'm teaching. I don't have much info about the projector. It's an old one that's installed in the classroom. It has a VGA connection, which is what I'm using to connect it to my Fujitsu Stylistic ST5112 slate.
There are no problems to make them work together, however, only one resolution can be set.My laptop has a resolution of 1280X800, when I set the resolution to fit laptop screen, the image shrinked on the projector, if I set it as 1024X768, projector can work ok (though still a little bit deformed), but the laptop screen image became 1024X768, either.I googled a lot, it seems no way to set resoluti
So I am a first time Linux user, and wanted to install Ubuntu 12.10 on my laptop that was previously running Windows 7.
I made a live USB drive to try it out, and then used it to go through the installation. (I wiped my old W7 install and replaced it with U12.10.)
Everything completed fine, but now after my BIOS screen there's a blinking cursor for about 4 seconds and then nothing.
Problem with monitor going to digital power saving after 5 seconds of blank screen.
Sometimes does this before bios boots.
Happens most often when booting to one of the linux distros
5 seconds is all it takes > 5 seconds of inactivity and digital power saving kicks in.
Note there is no problem reactivating screen from standby in win 7 or linux
I am running jaunty remix on a Samsung nc10. For about two weeks now, I often get a completely blank, white screen. This frequently happens at start-up. The screen is blank but I hear the prompt for user name and password. I can enter them, and some time later, I will see the desktop.
I want to disable suspend/ screen blank so that the laptop (ASUS F6J running Karmic 9.10) remains on once the lid is closed. I use a monitor plugged into the laptop when I work at home and want to stack the laptop on a small shelf. I use the machine on ac power all the time to am not worried about batteries.
Problem:
How can I get Ubuntu to send the screen image to my projector on the Display Port of my notebook?
Symptoms:
Nothing happens when I plug in the DP cable (projector is on) or use the function keys (Fn + F7) to switch (other function keys work). The Displays dialog only shows my regular monitor, no others.
Hi guys, ok so the last post didn't get any replies possibly because the way I worded it made it sound more than it actually is. I'm guessing by now that everyone has heard of the infamous blank/black screen after install?
I'm using Jaunty on an HP Mini 1000. I was using a projector today and when I changed the display settings accordingly it asked me to create a "virtual resolution" (I don't know what this is) and told me that I had to log out and in again. I did this and the projector worked find. However, ever since I unplugged the projector, the whole system has been very unstable.
