I have upgraded my ubuntu to 12.10 and installed CompizConfig Setting Manager to do some custom settings and one of the is enabling Magnifier Box. But this doesn't work, i have tried many shortcut combination but it still does't work.
Is there any compatibility issue with this feature or what?
Hello all. I am a new convert to #! & am loving it. I used to run Linux Mint\Ubuntu until I found #!. I have #! Statler XFCE running on my Acer Aspire One NAV50. I am trying to figure out how to get Compiz to run with XFCE. I have Compiz installed & I am not sure I set it to start right.

I'm trying to get an Ubuntu laptop functional for a visually impaired friend. Her impairment is such that a screen magnifier would solve the issue. I've tried out Kmag (as its the only hit when searching the software center for "magnifier"), but it seems odd the Ubuntu lacks a default. So I'm assuming I'm missing something obvious.
I'm trying to get Compiz to work on GNOME 3.2. I sucessfully instlaled the compiz packages needed and logged out of GNOME shell and logged in with the option "Classic GNOME with Compiz"
I can get *some* compiz features working, however alot of the time when I enable/disable/change a plugin in compiz, it crashes, and I have to restart X to get my desktop back to a useable state.
Compiz is now available in updates-testing.
Differents from former fedora packages:
-- verion is stable 0.8.8
-- gtk-windows-decorator is droped
because all windows-manager which i can use as base for gwd (metacity, marco)
are ported to gesettings, in result gwd doesn't work correctly.
So, emerald is the default and only windows-decorator.
-- gconf2/mateconf backend is droped
Default
I love the goals of ubuntu, and have tried it and other distros based on it several times over the last five years. It's amazing how far the desktop environment has come and how easy it is to set up ,but I am still extremely disappointed in the accessibility for people who are visually impaired. Orca is a joke. The magnifier wouldn't be good even if it were stable.
Hello,
I am using Ubunttu 12.04 and I have compiz installed, but I am having difficulty operating it.
Examples:
1. Windows Management (ring switcher)
I currently have the keyboard shortcut for NEXT WINDOW set to <Super>Tab, but the operation is not registering and instead tab begins shifting the keyboard focus for the current active window.
2.
People keep saying that Compiz is dead. Compiz is not dead. You can still install it on Fedora with MATE, XFCE, LXDE, etc.
I made it fairly straight forward, just copy/paste the commands in a terminal and run them.
