hello,
Is there anything I should do to get the scanner working in F18 ?
the canon scanner shows up in dmesg and I have installed xsane and xsane-gimp but in Gimp /file/create/xsane device dialog it only opens the webcam, where do I get hold of the scanner ?
cheers
I recently upgraded from 12.04 to 12.10 and since then I havent gotten my scanner to work.
The latest iscan-packages are installed and sane seems to find my scanner but despite that the following error messages appears in xsane and iscan.
Code:
sane-find-scanner
found USB scanner (vendor=0x04b8 [EPSON], product=0x013a [EPSON Scanner]) at libusb:003:004
scanimage -L
device `epkowa:in
I decided to try the 64 bit version of 12.04
I have gone through the driver install procedures that have worked for the 32 bit OS but can't seem to find the reason why Xsane and Simple scan don't see my scanner.
The scanner is a Brother MFC3220C.
sane-find-scanner seems to find the device:
Code:
paul@paul-P5K-SE:~$ sane-find-scanner
# sane-find-scanner will now attempt to detect
Xsane always comes up "scanning devices" when I call it up from Applications > Graphics.
It then finds the HP PSC 1350 scanner (so far so good) and the PCTV Rave video card (not so good).
When I press the scan button on the printer/scanner, nothing happens. I believe it to be because Xsane finds both devices and doesn't know what to do next.
Using a scanner in Linux is somewhat different than using that same scanner hardware in Windows. This week's Linux Picks focuses on how the XSane scanner app handles that process. In the Windows world, scanner hardware is TWAIN-compatible through manufacturer-developed scanning software.
I have SANE and SANE-scanner installed in my Ubuntu 12.04 box. I have an Epson V500 flatbed scanner, tied by USB to my machine. On my network I also have an HP All-in-One that has scanner functionality. Both are detected by the computer as scanners. I want to always use the Epson scanner but can't find a way to tell SANE-scanner to use the (second listed) Epson scanner.
When Running as root user xsane starts-up almost instantly and is able to perform scans.
When running xsane as normal user it takes abbout 5-10 minutes before xsane starts (it hangs on scanning for devices), after that it shows the scanner and it is able to perform the scan.
I have tested this when the Printer/Scanner is connected over network and on USB, with both hplip 3.11.7 (supplied wit
Hello, I want to install the scanner drivers of my MFC-5440CN (NETWORK connection). brscan-key says the scanner works, but "xsane" doesn't sees it. Procedure followed: I've 64 bits arch. I've seen in bother's page it uses "brscan2".So I installed packages: sane and xsane from repos.
Hallo all,
this weekend I updated the OS on my laptop from OS 10.3 to 11.2.
Most things worked fine ... and quickly ... but I have issues with some USB devices.
Printers and everthing that works like a Memory Stick, HD (camera, mobile phone) are OK.
But after the update to 11.2 I can neither use my scanner anymore nor my Garmin GPS device.
