I think I have screwed up my permissions in Ubuntu.
I am using my server to run PHP. I recently ran across a problem where PHP could not create directories in the var/www-directory, so I searched around on the internet.
We want to fix our data folders structre in Samba, for example our folders would be like as Data/Group A/2010 /A
We want all our users can work only in folder A and no one can create any files in data, GroupA, 2010 folders. Similarly no one can delete these basic folders. However users can create further folders in A as required.
Is this possible in samba?

how can i set 775 permission for all newly created files and folders.
when i give chmod -R 775 /data permission is getting to all files and folders. but when i create a folder i wont get that permission. i want this 755 permission should be permanent for all old and newly create files

I have some manga that are scanned as jpg files. This is a little difficult to explain...So I have the title folder and several other folders in that folder for each volume. When I transfer the title folder onto my tablet only the folders at the end of the directory, or those that only have the jpg files and NOT other folders show up.
Files and folders from another PC viewed as locked and showing "nobody/nogroup"
Works fine when creating a new folder and new file on the PC:
permission for folders: drwxrwxr-x
permission for files: -rw-rw-r--
When copying/moving a folder containing files from another PC:
permission for folders: drwxr-xr-x
permission for files: -rwxr--r--
