SamMobile is saying they’ve confirmed specs for Samsung’s next Note device, the GT-N5100. The un-cited report offers very specific information, including a name change to the Galaxy Note 8.0. As the name implies, it’s an 8-inch tablet to compete with the Nexus 7, Kindle Fire and iPad Mini.
The first Samsung Galaxy Note featured a display of 5.3-inches, which many considered half phone half tablet (or phablet). Then came an actual tablet, the Galaxy Note 10.1, sported a 10.1-inch display. Of course more recently the original Note was upgraded to the Galaxy Note II with a slightly bigger display, at 5.5-inches. There has to be a 7-inch tablet in the works right?
An 8-inch Samsung Galaxy Note no longer exists solely in the realm of unicorns and Apple TVs. A Korean news site is reporting that Samsung mobile honcho JK Shin has confirmed plans to release a midsize version of the tablet.
Samsung's game plan of late seems to be to cover all bases, with a wide array of smartphones and tablets that come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and price points.

Looks like Sammy is preparing to make a major splash in the coming months by introducing a wide range of devices. Thanks to our a friends at TechnoBuffalo, Samsung’s roadmap for the 1st half of 2013 is now in plain view for the world to see. The biggest item on the agenda is that Galaxy Note 8 tablet that we have been hearing more about lately.
That Samsung was tinkering with a slightly smaller Galaxy Note tablet shouldn’t come as a surprise, but consider this the final word if you still weren’t a believer.
