We’ve previously reported that the Samsung Galaxy S III uses a special MHL/HDMI adapter and you would not be able to use the last-generation MHL to HDMI adapter cables because of hardware changes. Samsung has come forward with a great solution as they have built a 5-pin to 11-pin adapter that allows the old cable to work with the new phone.
just saw this news from gsmarena

The Samsung Galaxy S III is already one of the most capable phones out there, and now we’re hearing even more about its capability to use external accessories via the microUSB port.
Good day.
Earlier this year my son purchased a Note 2.
I'd like to be able to use a keyboard, mouse, USB hard drive, and HDMI simultaneously.
Is this possible?
I have a 50% off cupon for Samsung accessories. I see they have a dock/keyboard combo I can purchase. The keyboard has a Samsung connector on it.
I have both a genuine Samsung MHL adapter and the S2 mhl adapter with the 5pin to 11pin converter and I've seen both of these work on other phones.
However, I can't get my video out working on my S3. Both of them connect and bring up active charge and indicate onscreen that "HDMI cable connected". So I know the adapter and cable is being detected but no signal on HDTV.
I just assembled a new computer with an Intel Core i7-2600K CPU and I am using the integrated Intel HD Graphics 3000 graphics processor. I have an Asus P8Z68V-LE mother board that has a VGA, DVI and HDMI output. I have a Samsung monitor to the DVI port and an Acer monitor connected to the HDMI port.

I just built new PC:
AMD 8350 CPU
ASUS sabertooth motherboard
Nvidia GTX 650 graphics card
Ubuntu 12.10
System boots fine and desktop is fine using VGA connection, but there is no HDMI video output to the monitor (HP w2207h) using the Nouveau drivers.
Tried a second other type of monitor with HDMI and had the same thing "NO SIGNAL".
So I used "System Settings" and changed from Nouveau driver
Can someone help me with this? I think i've tried just about everything.
