Ok, I'm going more than a little nuts here...
Here's what's happening. I have one PC (morpheus) on which I've chosen to share a couple of folders in the home directory. The folders show the "Shared" icon in them and are chmod 777'd. I can access them by going to Dolphin -> Network -> Samba Shares -> Workgroup -> Morpheus -> Foldername ...

Hey,
I'm quite new to KDE. And OpenSUSE. I wonder how to get Samba share access working well...
Dolphin supports Samba but it doesn't really mount anything, it seems... Non-KDE Applications therefor can't access samba that way. In Gnome there was a workaround for the same problem. You could simply go to ~/.gvfs in any application and find the samba mounted there.
Using Virtualbox, I have a NAT adapter and a host-only adapter. Host is Windows 7, guest is Ubuntu 10.10.
How can I access samba shares?
I could use bridge instead of NAT before, and I had no problem. I could handle samba shares with ease but now I have been forced to switch to NAT, so please don't suggest to still use bridge.
I seem to be having trouble getting my laptop running Kubuntu to browse through to my Samba shares on my desktop. I try browsing to it through dolphin and it either doesn't show up the domain/workgroup or it will but shows nothing inside of it.
Hey guys, I'm guessing the update to samba 4 has broken my samba partially, my samba shares seem to no longer be visible, but I can still access them. Probably an out of date config file, any chance of help with it?These are super simple shares for my family home, no passwords, simple direct guest access. Windows computers are the main clients, other than my own linux ones.
I've setup my file server running ubuntu 12.04 with AFP/Avahi and Samba shares. Simple configuration, nothing too complicated. I've given my AFP machine a different name than %h to avoid confusion when looking into my Finder.
Briefly - ubuntu box sees shares on Vista box. Vista box sees shares on Win 7 box. Ubuntu sees Win 7 box but won't list shares. All access is via Everyone.
I'm using smbnetfs to manage network shares.
I've read possibly 100s of tips on how to solve this Win 7 problem - none of which work (either for me, or original posters!).
Hi,
I cannot get samba shares to work...
Fedora 16/17/18
Please could someone give me a detailed step by step guide to getting a default (gnome) Fedora 18 build to share a directory on the network over Samba protocol.
