I have installed Ubuntu 12.04 with Samba and Webmin. I set up a simple share with permissions 775. Add a user to the share. Sync my Linux users and groups with Samba.
I can see the server by name "\\server\test" from windows. I cannot access the share by name. I get a message immediately that says that I do not have permission.
Hello,
I have a strange problem. My native resolution is 1366X768, yet every time I restart, the resolution always starts up as 1024X768 without being stretched out -- it has thick black borders on the side. How do I make it remember to start up at the resolution I want?
Every time i attempt installing ubuntu on my VM it goes flawlessly until the initial start up of the OS, i cannot seem to fit the machine inside my screen resolution. i installed a pre-made VM for an open source project and the resolution was fine, everything was scaled and actually a full screen.
Just a quick note for any others who may find themselves trying to max out the 1920x1080 screen on something like a Lenovo Thinkpad w520 after installing crunchbang in a virtualbox VM hosted on Windoes 7.Obviously to get anywhere close to this resolution you've got to install the guest extras, but even after doing this I found I wasn't able to configure the desired full resolution using
I have Dell 7520 with AMD Raedon 7XXXM graphics card, thankfully, I got to make it work. But the problem now is screen resolution, as I have screen resolution of 1920 X 1080 for 15.6" laptop, which is way too much. In the Display Monitor settings, I cannot change it to whatever I want, only the resolution with 16:9 works perfectly.
I face with a big problem , I bought a monitor that it supports at last 1280x960 resolution and i create an application on Ubuntu in 1280x1024 resolution,it takes time to finish it so in this case i should adjust and fit my screen on Ubuntu with this lower resolution,
when my system boot via 19 inch monitor that has my suitable resolution , it detects and set this resolution and it comes up , I ch
I was using a script that uses curl. Quite often curl fail.
The error is name lookup timed out
I tried to ping google.com and and other sites. Indeed dns (or whatever do the translation from domain name to IP takes a few seconds to do that.
How to make my dns server (/resolver, or what is it anyway) work faster?
How to test this without a program? How to test dns resolution time?
Hi
How can I preserve the aspect ratio for my laptop whenever I run a game that runs outside the display's native resolution of 1366x768? It looks horrible when stretched. Also, how do I get the system to restore the native resolution once a game has been exited? It tends to stay at the resolution set by the game and I have to reset it manually. Thanks for any help.
I just moved to Ubuntu 12.04 64bit, and it does not allow me to get higher resolution then 1024x768 @50Hz, it's horrible. My target is 1280x1024 @75Hz.

VGA: NVidia 9800GT
Thanks!
PS: I'm new to this system, please keep it simple :P
