The 4.x series of Samba has now the first 4.1 stable version, it's basicly like the 4.0 version present in -Current but with wide support for last MS Windows protocols. Hope that samba-4.1 can be included in 14.1!
Usually people want the opposite (from tdb to ldap). Here's my problems:
I understand that when samba uses the tdb passdb backend, some information is stored "the files" /etc/passwd and /etc/group. Does Samba actually directly read these files? Or does it use NSS/PAM to get stuff from them?
My /etc/samba/smb.conf is# This is the main Samba configuration file. You should read the
# smb.conf(5) manual page in order to understand the options listed
# here. Samba has a huge number of configurable options (perhaps too
# many!) most of which are not shown in this example
# For a step to step guide on installing, configuring and using samba,
# read the Samba-HOWTO-Collection.
when i compile samba on Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS. The samba version samba-samba-2.2.12 it doesn't create samba service i.e /etc/init.d/smb or /etc/init.d/samba service. I followed steps mentioned in below url.
