http://forums.fedoraforum.org – I have the Samba server running fine. However I am having issues getting two users on the samba share! There are two files I made both these users need access to them and one is an admin the other is a standard user. I added to valid users in the smb.conf Inside system-config-samba under properties and the users allows, there is no check box for there names? ---------- Post added at 02:44 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:40 AM ---------- Got system-config-samba to have the user check box. Had to go to Samba setting's then click the names. however, the names get a user name and pas (HowTos)

Hello community! I'm setting up my first linux fileserver for Windows clients and am having some problems properly setting up the shares. I have a shared folder via Samba where multiple users (who are organized by group) should have permissions of rwxrwx--- (0770).

I have trouble with samba, my old config from samba 3.6 don't work for 4.03 f18. The most clients windows and linux machines can r/w/c share files, but the androids users can browse the share and delete files but no more operations are permitted, why this?

im new to linux and Samba.

Aim

Create a called Shared_folder which can be accessed by ALL users (group name = users).

I need help configuring the Samba server so I can connect from a Windows machine to my Fedora. I followed several tutorials because and non of them work for me. Here are two of them: tutorial 1 tutorial 2 tutorial 3 (samba and selinux)

When accessing my machine by IP Windows machines see the shared folders allusers and Share.

Hello and thanks for considering helping me out; here is the story.

I am an Ubuntu Server 12.10 box running in an Active Directory environment where the PDC (Primary Domain Controller) is a Windows Server 2008 R2 system for roaming profiles etc.

My server has access to a read-only LDAP where information about 99% of user accounts will reside. On my server I want to configure Samba to use LDAP for authentication.

Now and then there will be some extra users that do not have an account on LDAP.

I'm running samba on Ubuntu Server 10.04 LTS, I've some folders on samba share and created some user to access it, but suddenly some of the user are not able to access it for a certain time only.

For i.e:

There are 5 users as A,B,C,D,E and there are two folders in samba share name as "test" and "develop"

"test" doesn't have any user access password but "develop" has user access with password.
