A domain controller is a server which groups multiple computers to centralize their authentication system. When you are using a domain controller, you don't login to your computer, but instead login to the domain controller. Every authentication request is handled by the Primary Domain Controller (PDC).

I had a working system under Samba 3.5.6 (Debian Squeeze). I upgraded to Wheezy and Samba 3.6.6. Now no access to samba shares. Using windows server for DC. When I do smbclient -L server, I notice a difference. When it was working, the domain controller would be listed and Workgroup Master would show server name and domain controller. After upgrade, these are missing. Any ideas?
