Would it be possible to create a meta package for crunchbang that has essential packages as dependencies? I found that after uninstalling some packages that as far as I could tell were not important, some essential user services stopped autoloading (guake and nm-applet) :(. With a meta package, a warning would be issued if one tried to uninstall something that crunchbang needs.
Hi. When you install a package, for example vlc, YaST will install some other packages "to resolve dependencies", right? But if you then want to uninstall vlc, the automatic installed packages that came with the installation wont be marked to be deleted. Correct me if I'm wrong :) But is this something I should worry about and try to find the other packages and delete them to?
I've read elsewhere that to uninstall a package you built using './configure && make' etc. you have to read the Makefile to determine where on the system files may have been placed. Only, I can't read this out of the makefile due to inexperience.
The package I'm trying to uninstall is called 'movgrab'.
As an Ubuntu noob, I install and uninstall a lot of packages, to try them out. However, for months, I made the mistake of using apt-get remove instead of apt-get purge, which I didn't even realize exists.
Is there a way to cause apt-get to purge every package I've uninstalled? My system is full of leftover files I neither want or need from dozens of different packages.
Hi,
I'm a bit new to openSUSE and I'm more comfortable with Ubuntu's package management. That said, I'm having trouble removing an RPM. I'm trying to remove uShare and it's being stubborn.
Code:
zypper rm ushare
I have a text file with a package on each line. How can I remove all the packages in that text file from the system?
Also, if one package cannot be removes/wasn't installed in the first place can I make is continue.
What I would ideally like is an sudo apt-get remove packages.txt type solution.
Hi everybody.
I ended up with some broken packages after installing updates.
When I do sudo apt-get -f install, I get the same error which is
