http://forums.opensuse.org – There's been work on recent kernels on making machine sleep & wake up more reliably, and indeed it can work like for Windows! Actually there's a good chance it can work similarly with 11.1, it worked well for me and stopped working in 11.2. Entries for working configurations required for DataBase, and there's "tweaks" you can do to get it working now, if you follow the suggestions. To see if your hardware is known in DataBase - try : fir:/sys/power # s2ram -n Machine unknown This machine can be identified by: sys_vendor = "Dell Inc." sys_product = "Inspiron 531" sys_version = "00" bios_version = "1.0.13" See Suspend to RAM - openSUSE for details. Bug showing how to patch system with s2ram options if "Suspend to RAM" menu, or "# powersave -u" isn't working : https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=555821 You should familiarise yourself with Magic SysRq first, and/or have way of logging in over network if you wish to minimise risks of unclean filesystem shutdown, when you try new options.
