Running fetchmail with Socks proxy

http://unix.stackexchange.com – I checked the manual of fetchmail, all it mentioned was SOCKS_CONF, but what is the format of that config file? And how do I know if my fetchmail is configured with --with-socks, fetchmail -V doesn't say anything related. (HowTos)

I get quite an annoying failure with fetchmail and irssi (possibly other networking apps but these two are the ones where it is the most obvious).

When I call fetchmail, I get the following error:

Code: $ fetchmail -v fetchmail: 6.3.21 querying pop.mail.yahoo.fr (protocol POP3) at Fri 10 Aug 2012 10:58:55 PM CEST: poll started fetchmail: couldn't find canonical DNS name of pop.mail.ya

I couldn't seem to tell from the fetchmail man page or http://www.catb.org/~esr/fetchmail/fetchmail-man.html#7 whether --bsmtp <filename>.bsmtp.log, applied from cli/cronjob, and --mda <command> applied from varying fetchmailrc config files are mutually exclusive.

I'm trying to download e-mails from my aol.pl account but they are blocked via Spamdyke on my local mail server. It seems mails are send from my incorrect email not on this local server.

I have a little problem with fetchmail Its the second time in the last 3 years that fetchmail waits endless for a answer from my provider. So i have to implement the -t function in the script fetchmail which is in /etc/init.d and was written by Stanislav Brabec.

I need to have fetchmail deliver to an Exchange server that requires SMTP client authentication. Fetchmail connects to the server, but it does not authenticate itself. As a result, the delivered mail is rejected. Does fetchmail support authenticating the SMTP connection, and if so, what options do I need to set?

Using mutt, I have a configuration issue with fetchmail. In my .fetchmail.rc, I have

poll imap.gmail.com protocol imap user "myusername" password "mypassword" mda "/usr/bin/procmail -d %T" ssl

But I can't fetch any mail. Can someone help ?
