http://serverfault.com – Background: I'm in a noisy environment, and I'm trying to optimize my WiFi network to have a more stable connection for the somewhat high volume of users (~50-75 on a busy day). There are 4 APs, and I've already adjusted the channels and transmit power, and overall I have fairly decent coverage. However, I still get about ~10% packet drop when pinging Google and walking around the building, roaming from AP to AP. In most WiFi APs I've seen, the default RTS Threshold is set at 2347 (from what I've read in various places, this setting counts as "disabled"), and Fragmentation Threshold is set at (HowTos)

The hardware works (it runs fine under Windows). I also don't see any other networks when I don't have the USB WiFi adapter (wlan1). My current thought is that it is not seeing the other networks because their signal strengths are below some threshold value. It sees the router that is in the same room, but it is not seeing any other networks in the area.

I'm not sure if it's a gnome setting or something deeper into the Linux OS, but I'd like to change the drag and drop threshold.

It happens too often on my clickable touchpad that I try clicking and it highlights text instead because I barely moved and it thinks I'm trying to drag.

I've been doing some monitoring on our servers and we get warnings that the TCPv4 / % Segments Retransmitted is above acceptable threshold:

Is there any way to tell what the problem could be based on how this graph looks? It looks very "cyclical" and is consistently over the threshold seemingly regardless of the user-load.

my computer shuts down at around 55°C (131°F). If my computers CPU temperature reaches this threshold, i hear a fire alarm sound from the speaker of my mainboard and the computer shuts down immediately. If Iturn the computer on and enter bios right after that, cpu temperature is around 45-50 degrees C. Way too cold for an alert.

We are running OPTIMIZE TABLE , but not seeing any fragmentation reduction. They are as high as 120% to 200%.

Am calculating the fragmentation % using this: Data_Free / (Data_Length + Index_Length)

My tables are using INNODB engine and "innodb_file_per_table" set to 1.

What am I missing?

Has something change with Mysql 5.5+ onwards?
