http://forums.fedoraforum.org – For a considerable time, the script using rsh worked great on 11gR1 Now under F10 the script no longer works. I am planning to switch to ssh. Here is the source and information in this site is usually perfect! http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/...ownOnLinux.php /etc/init.d /dbora that once worked: #!/bin/sh # chkconfig: 345 99 10 # description: Oracle auto start-stop script. # # Change the value of ORACLE_HOME to specify the correct Oracle home # directory for your installation. ORACLE_HOME=/u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/db_1 # # Change the value of ORACLE to the login name of the # oracle owner at your site. # ORACLE=oracle PATH=${PATH}:$ORACLE_HOME/bin HOST=`hostname` PLATFORM=`uname` export ORACLE_HOME PATH # if [ ! "$2" = "ORA_DB" ] ; then if [ "$PLATFORM" = "HP-UX" ] ; then remsh $HOST -l $ORACLE -n "$0 $1 ORA_DB" exit else rsh $HOST -l $ORACLE $0 $1 ORA_DB exit fi fi # case $1 in 'start') $ORACLE_HOME/bin/dbstart $ORACLE_HOME ;; 'stop') $ORACLE_HOME/bin/dbshut $ORACLE_HOME ;; *) echo "usage: $0 {start|stop}" exit ;; esac # exit For rsh I have (below) in /etc/pam.d/rsh -> this fixed the problem the first time it quit working! #%PAM-1.0 # For root login to succeed here with pam_securetty, "rsh" must be # listed in /etc/securetty. auth required pam_nologin.so auth required pam_securetty.so auth required pam_env.so auth required pam_rhosts.so account include system-auth session optional pam_keyinit.so force revoke session include system-auth session required pam_loginuid.so Tried running rsh by itself: >rsh -l root localhost.localdomain pwd Permission denied I have installed rsh and xinetd services, both enabled and xinetd started. ssh works but I have to furnish password; ssh -l root localhost. localdomain ls root_at_localhost.localdomain's password: 01234xyz anaconda-ks.cfg Coffee Bean.bmp Coffee Bean.jpeg Coffee Bean.png Desktop Documents Download install.log install.log.syslog java0.log Music oradiag_root Pictures Public rshsave1 Templates Videos I had to retreat to the "su" version to get the automatic startup/shutdown to work again (see website above). ssh is a career but I should learn something (HowTos)
