I just bought a TRENDNET TDM C4000 (=modem/ wiredrouter) and got it working. If I connect my computer with through the ethernet port directly, the internet will work. However, when I try connecting the ends of the ethernet cable on the modem and my wireless router, it's not transmitting. I know I set up the wireless router correctly because it worked with my previous modem.
How could I configure Ubuntu to be setup as follows...
Wireless Client ----> Wireless Router ----> Home Server ----> Internet
What is needed to make all of the wireless traffic go to my internet connection port.
I will be having two ethernet cables plugged into the system one from the wireless router and one to my internet router.
I have several managed switches at work that connect all computer within our office to the ADSL modem. However I would like enforce a VLAN policy to isolate traffic within the network. Through my previous studies of the CCNA certification it has come clear to me that I would require a router.
Hi all
Internet Connection:-
DSL 4MB/4MB (up and down)
Static IP
(for home use)
--------------
Wiring connection:
PC -> Router -> Modem -> ISP
Modem and router are supplied by ISP.
Modem:
Comtrend
Model SR-2010 (4 wire)
Router - wire
The modem is provided with 4 sockets, only one being used and connected to the router.
I'm prepared to set up an addional network
have a DSL modem setup with 192.168.1.1 local IP. Everything working fine. Then have a linksys wireless router that I have connected to the DSL modem. I have enabled DHCP on the wireless router, and have assigned 192.168.107.1 IP address to this router, with 255.255.255.0 as the mask.
OK So I moved today and had to purchase a new wireless router. Without changing any setting I connected using WiCd wirelessly from my last residence.
I now purchased a Linksys WRT160N wireless router to use however cant connect to that wired or wireless. well let me specify, WiCd states its connected but no internet connection is found in firefox.
I have an issue with my internet connection. I am using VPN (Aventail Client) to access the local resources. When connected to VPN the Internet traffic passes through it, not through my LAN or Wi-Fi network. I would like to change the routing table to use the Wi-Fi adapter of the PC for WAN traffic.
I have an Ubuntu machine acting as a router/Stateful Firewall/NAT for my internet connection. It has a couple of ethernet ports and a wireless network for my home network (eth5, eth7, eth10 and wlan1). It is connected with a DSL modem in bridged mode giving it a connection to the internet called ppp0.
This question is not really related to Ubuntu directly as it's about networking and a little problem I'm having at the moment.
