Root process trying to find tcp.log .linux-sniff

view story

http://serverfault.com – I have an Ubuntu 10.04 VPS and i have noticed a root process that is trying to find some files: /usr/bin/find /dev /tmp /lib/ etc/ var ( -name tcp.log -o -name .linux-sniff -o -name sniff10 -o -name core_ ) I don't know the origin of this process, and it causes a load average very high. Sometimes even 11 9 9 on a 6 core cpu. My question is if anybody knows if the origin of this process is some software or i am being ... hacked ? Sorry if i don't express my self correctly. I am beginner in servers admin. (HowTos)
